“‘Come now, let us reason together,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’”
Isaiah 1:18 (NIV)

On Christmas Eve, the center candle of an Advent Wreath is traditionally lit. This candle is called the "Christ Candle" and represents the life of Christ that has come into the world. What a celebration! ADVENT IS HERE! It’s Christmas Day!

The color of the Christ candle is white, representing purity. Christ is the sinless, spotless, pure Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world! The True Savior. Isaiah, the prophet, tells us that those who receive Christ as Savior are washed of their sins and made whiter than snow. How can He do it?  How can God make us white as snow?  I like the way The Message answers that question in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “How? you say. In Christ. God put the wrong on Him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.”

Jesus took all your sins and mine!  He died that we may live!  He became so poor that we would be made rich!  The angel explained it to Joseph like this,
“…Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.’" Matthew 1:20-21 (NIV)

No Christmas gift could match what God offers you and me in Christ.  Sins are forgiven, and a home in heaven!  Have you received the gift of Christmas?  If not, open it today!  Here’s how.  The Bible says, “…to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 (NIV)

Receive Jesus just as you would receive a gift from a friend.  Simply reach out and say thanks!  Thank Him for giving His life in your place. Thank Him for taking your sin to the cross and dying for you.  Thank Him for rising again to indwell you by His Spirit and give you eternal life!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! ADVENT IS HERE!

Another important part of your daily devotional is spending time with God in prayer. The Woodlands Church Prayer Board lists prayer requests submitted by our members and provides a way to send them some encouragement by using a button on the page to let them know that you prayed for them. Whether you use the Prayer Board, or pray from your heart, the goal is to build the habit of incorporating prayer into your quiet time.

Need prayer yourself? Let us know by submitting a prayer request on the Woodlands Church Prayer Board.
