God Wanted You!

“Worthy, O Master! Yes, our God! Take the glory! the honor! the power! You created it all; It was created because you wanted it.”
Revelation 4:11 (MSG)

Ever wonder why God made you? Did He make you because He had to, or because He wanted you? Consider that for a minute or two. Really think about it. Don’t just read a passage like Revelation 4:11 without experiencing a revelation of what God is saying to you. Imagine John hearing those elders in Heaven praising the God of creation, saying, “Worthy, O Master! Yes, our God! Take the glory! The honor! The power! You created it all; It was created because you wanted it.”

The thought of why God made all that He made must have gripped John. God didn’t make us because He had to. You are not an accident. Your birth may not have been planned by your parents, but God knew you before the foundation of the world! He created you and me because He wanted to! That alone demonstrates our real value! The next time you question your worth as a person, remember that God considers you highly valuable. He wanted to create you, and He desires to engage you in a relationship with Him!

In Colossians 1:16 (NIV), the Bible says, “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.” You were created by God and for God! He didn’t have to make you or me!

In Psalm 8, David looks into the night sky and finds himself feeling small in comparison to all of creation. But God would not have us dwell on our smallness. In fact, David asks, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?” Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV). Comparing yourself to all of creation is a reality check and may leave you feeling insignificant until you consider your real value to God. The next few verses in Psalm 8 say that God created us only a little lower than Himself and the angels, yet crowned us with glory and honor and gave us authority over everything He made! This should set us free from feelings of worthlessness!

Have you ever paused to consider this truth: “God made me because He wanted me!” You are highly favored over all His creation! God made you for Himself! Your life has value and meaning! Your significance is in Christ! And He loves you with an everlasting love!
