“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.’” Revelation 21:5-6 (NIV)

The last book of the Bible gives us so much insight into what is to come! The apostle John receives unimaginable revelations of the New Heaven and the New Earth!  It’s both a place of No More and So Much More! No more death! No more crying! No more sickness! No more pain! John summarizes the final two chapters of Revelation in these two verses found in Revelation 21:5-6 (NIV). God says, “I am making everything new!” “It is done!” What He created in Genesis will be brought to completion! From creation to consummation God is at work to redeem all that He has made.

What does that mean for us today? We not only have a new heaven and a new earth to look forward to one day, but when we pray for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, we can experience a little bit of heaven now. Every miracle Jesus performed was a bit of heaven on earth! Heaven is a place where all that’s broken will be made new! The New Testament Greek word translated new means new in character, restored to function as God created it. Sin brought the fall to all of creation and separated us from God. It separates us from one another as well and creates division, hostility, disease, and death. But God is the Great Restorer of all things!  The Psalmist says, “He restores my soul.”  Psalm 23:3a (NIV) So, this week we’re going to pray for restoration in our lives, our relationships, our marriages, our emotions, our families, our church, and our community. We’re going to pray for heaven on earth! For His Kingdom to come in our lives and relationships and for His will to be done on earth, here and now, as it is in heaven! We are going to pray as Jesus taught us to pray, believing Him for what only God can do and is ready to do if we will just ask!

Are you ready to ask God for more, so much more than you’ve ever asked before? Are you ready to believe God to bring heaven to earth in your life, your marriage, your community? Are you ready to ask Him to restore your broken heart, bringing hope for despair, joy where there’s been sorrow, and beauty for ashes? Will you let Him rule and reign in your heart and be King of your life? Then let’s get started and pray right now for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let’s experience some heaven on earth instead of the hell we’ve grown so accustomed to and settled for in our lives. Let this be a new day! A new beginning and a new approach to prayer that will revolutionize your life and restore your soul!
