A Collision of Two Worldviews

“Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
Romans 12:2 (MSG)

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence is outpacing our ability to control and govern it’s potential for misuse and abuse. It seems the goal of misinformation is not just to convince you to believe a lie but to distrust everything and everyone. How do we know what to believe or whom? Instead of Artificial Intelligence we need Authentic Intelligence. Historical evidence would submit that authentic intelligence is a result of developing a Christian worldview. A worldview is the filter through which you see and understand the world. Your worldview influences how you think, feel and see everything around you, including God, yourself, others, the past, present and future. It influences your attitude toward money, time; how you determine what is good and evil. Your worldview guides your decisions. Every choice you make is a consequence of your worldview. That’s why it’s crucial for a Christ follower to base their worldview on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. When writing to the church in Rome, the apostle Paul gave them this charge to help them stay true to God when two worldviews collide. He said, “Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:2 (MSG)

We presently live in such a culture that is experiencing the collision of two worldviews that couldn’t be further apart. Yet, it is striking how many who claim to be Christ followers have fallen prey to a secular worldview today. One national survey found that 62 percent of Americans claim they are “deeply spiritual.” When asked how that spirituality affects their decision making, 31 percent said they make moral choices based on “what feels right and comfortable,” 18 percent on “whatever is best for me,” 14 percent on “whatever causes the least conflict with others,” and only 16 percent on “what God’s Word says.” What does that mean? My friend, Rick Warren sums it up well. He said, “It means most Christians have a non-Christian worldview. You may be a Christian and headed for heaven, but you can also have a non-Christian worldview because you’ve based it on what you’ve learned from the world and not from God’s Word.”

Authentic Intelligence is a Christian worldview based on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. It enables you to exercise wisdom and stand courageously in an everchanging culture that redefines truth. It is led by a consciousness of conviction. Artificial Intelligence is led by a consciousness of convenience. In Matthew 10:32-33 (MSG), Jesus charged His followers to “Stand up for Me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before My Father in heaven. If you turn tail and run, do you think I’ll cover for you?”

Do you stand for His truth? To take that kind of stand will require an uncommon courage that is only possible through a Biblical Worldview.
